Expects Continued Growth Globally in Outsourced CFO Services, Especially for Post Start-ups and Companies Going Public

NEW YORK, N.Y. – (March 4th, 2014)

The CFO Squad is pleased to announce that Scott Korman has joined its Advisory Board. Mr. Korman is an experienced private equity investor and proven turnaround specialist, as well as founder and President of Nashone, Inc., an investment and advisory firm.  His expertise in private equity and affiliations with leading capital market firms will help support The CFO Squad’s continued growth; in large part driven from the recent acceleration of company IPOs, and their related need for senior-level accounting and financial business services.

According to Mr. Korman, “Universities, government agencies, and other enterprises are looking to start-ups as the future economic growth engine.  While private equity has been around for quite some time, this type of financing is becoming much more critical”.  He further explains, “There is a gap of knowledge in the financial area that companies in this stage are typically missing, and The CFO Squad is uniquely positioned to fill this gap.”

Once companies mature beyond the early stages of angel investments and venture capital, there is an evolution in the type of investor that these organizations must successfully engage with.  This creates a need for professional CFO consulting and financial support services.  This can often pose a challenge for smaller businesses, as most entrepreneurs have strong expertise in their product area or industry, but lack the necessary financial skills and background.

This phenomenon is not unique to U.S. companies, as organizations worldwide are looking to consume CFO-level business services on an outsourced basis.   “I’ve worked with several companies recently outside the U.S. that are looking for senior-level advisory and business expertise, but don’t want to hire a full-time CFO”, says Korman.  The CFO Squad has had inquiries from companies based in China, Greece, and Israel.  “Very similar to the way companies are now consuming business technologies “as-a-service” with cloud computing and outsourcing these non-core capabilities; we are now seeing this same trend in how they want to manage their back office.”

The CFO Squad specializes in organizing a company’s financial records and preparing the required schedules necessary for the outside accounting firms to conduct their reviews and certified audits in accordance with GAAP and SEC regulatory requirements. Its unique approach automates the financial reporting process starting with the company’s books and records, establishing the required work-papers, assisting with the supporting documentation and concluding with the consolidated financial statements.  Its approach decreases the total audit time needed preparing for the subsequent quarterly reviews and annual audits by both the company and its auditors.   The CFO Squad works with the company’s outside counsel in the preparation of the SEC reports (Forms 10Q’s and 10K’s, Forms S-1’s, Form D’s, etc.) in addition to providing strategic guidance to the company.

“The CFO Squad has put together a team of professionals with the right level of expertise (including ex-CFOs of public and private companies), and added a broad set of investment banking and financial relationships such as through our partners and advisors like Scott Korman,” explains Joseph Himy, CFO Squad founder and Managing Director.  “We then offer all this at a fraction of the cost of a full-time CFO.  Together this uniquely helps our clients successfully navigate their financial journey towards continued growth.”
